This10" diameter #2000 grit (very fine) diamond saturated polishing pad is used to quickly polish a pot's foot after it has been ground with an electroplated steel  diamond disc or to give a finer polish after using the #500 8" pad. 

It has a  magnetic rubber backing for easy attachment and removal from any electroplated steel diamond grinding disc.  It is somewhat rigid, but softens with use.  The diamond dust/particles are embedded  throughout the pads. As the pad is used over time, the resin is very slowly worn away along with some of the diamond particles, and new diamonds are exposed.
