Sequoia Pottery and Ray West are one in the same. It, we, along with my wife Marilyn, are located on a tract of private land within what is now Giant Sequoia National Monument in the Southern most part of the Sierra Nevada in a mixed conifer forest. I chose the name because of the intense passion I feel for the place, after having maintained a studio and life here since 1981. I design and prepare both the clay and glazes of my pottery. They are the result of years of experiment, successes and failures in an on-going experiment that I think of as finding it's own way with my assistance.
